Despite the financial difficulties faced by many businesses in these hard economic times, a local networking group based in Harrogate has been striving to buck the trend. So far this year "Strayside BNI group" has passed over one million pounds worth of business between its members through word-of-mouth marketing and referrals.
Harrogate Strayside BNI group meet every Tuesday morning at Oakdale golf club at around 6:30am for informal networking, followed by a structured meeting over breakfast. The members, who represent a wide range of local businesses, such as, an Accountant, an Independent Financial Advisor a Chimney Sweep and a Plasterer, get the opportunity to promote their business and ask their fellow members to help them find new contacts and win new business.
The members track the value of new business generated through these referrals which has now passed the one million pound mark for 2011.
Long standing group member David Massey of David Massey Garden Construction says..
"BNI has been brilliant for my business, not only the volume of work I have received, but also the quality of the work. Over the last few years BNI has been by far the most successful way of generating new business, word of mouth and personal recommendations are invaluable to a business like mine"
There is only one business for each profession allowed within the group. Strayside BNI is currently looking for new members in a number of categories, including a solicitor, photographer, plumber, and an electrician.
